Advanced Lighting Techniques

Customized lighting seminars
presented by Mark Stucker

Training

The Advanced Lighting Techniques seminar is for video professionals with experience. As part of this seminar I consult with you and your staff beforehand to determine lighting situations & problem areas on which to focus. During a one day seminar, typically comprised of four 90-120 minute sessions, I will discuss the defined areas and demonstrate lighting techniques in a hands-on interactive workshop with your lighting equipment.

The primary emphasis in this training is on learning skills that get the lighting up quickly, while still allowing for creativity and attention to detail. Efficient techniques, film-style lighting design and idea’s for developing the eye are all part of this workshop. Also discussed are the latest technical books, and sources for advanced workshops around the country.

Ideally you can combine this seminar with one of your scheduled production dates to follow. This allows your staff and I the opportunity to work directly together applying theory and their new skills within the constraints and demands of an actual shoot.

Consultation

As part of the seminar, consultation is available regarding your department's existing lighting and production equipment. I can make prioritized recommendations for future purchases based on your department’s direction and need. Your staff will also be introduced to rental sources of state-of-the-art lighting & grip equipment available for those bigger and less frequent production needs. If you have specific ongoing or upcoming productions, I can consult on their lighting design as well.

Focus Areas

These are areas to choose from as starting points of discussion. The first module of the four is required as an overview of production basics and process.

The Seminar

The Advanced Lighting Techniques seminar is an investment that will improve the quality and aesthetics of the work your department will produce. Call for scheduling or for more information on how this program can be further customized to meet your department's needs.

University Level Lighting Instruction

The Advanced Lighting Techniques seminar can also be customized to teach instruction in university settings. Rather than teach to a broad generalized group I would prefer to focus with a specialized class where in-depth lighting skills and knowledge are needed to supplement the university instructor's curriculum.
